Observed I closely to the life

Sitting at the corner of a busy street

San materials I once possessed

Beggar as I am addressed

I was once very adamant

Full of pride for the wealth

That I had amassed

I lived a life of king’s size

Merrily in my grandeur palace

With a family so loving and dear

Never cared to spend on charity

Perhaps my heart was devoid of

Purity, kindness, and mercy

For the poor of destitute

I lost everyone in Earth’s tremor

The only survivor of that tragedy I was

There was nothing to bemoan

I realized I got punished

For my heart full of filth

Looking at the four-wheelers

Queued up and honking continuously

All are in a rat-race which they

Are not realising at all

My life now rests on the hope

The hope of being accepted,

Cared, fed and loved.
