Banyan tree gregarious and ageless

Stands as a witness, a mute spectator

To the destruction wrought by humans

In the name of progress, a regression.

Greed in wants, breeding in corruption

Overconsumption, fierce competition

To reach the top of the pyramid, amid

Squalor, poverty, and injustice.

High intellect and integrity of mind

Given way to bigotry and pettiness.

The leaves shed, makes a carpet on the ground beneath

Crackling dry when someone steps on it.

New leaves will emerge with the change of season.

Will some new philosophy emerge to rescue mankind?
