How insignificant we all are,

Like ants scurrying on the ground,

Our "problems" are even smaller still,

And yet we seem to think they are profound.

How small we all are,

Like a hummingbird in search

Of flowers yet to come,

Or for the night a place to perch.

How meager we all are,

Unnoticed by the world,

Everybody in it indifferent

To the tightness around your chest curled.

How trivial we all are,

Feeling gut-wrenching pain,

Like an animal eating you inside out,

And it's probably because someone called you lame.

How minor we all are,

Not understand what real "troubles" mean,

And think the world has ended

Just because your parents caused a scene.

How little we all are.

How titchy we all are.

How negligible we all are.

How lowly we all are.
