Nights after night,

I roam in the narrow lanes.

Kolkata - once the city of joy,

Is now the city of pains.

Breathing spaces left are few,

Now it's only roadblocks & curfew.

The deafening mikes slogan,

Falling of trades, falling of Stanley & Morgan.

The scorched up prices,

Leaves us with little or no choices.

The daily power cuts,

Drives us all nuts.

Fast track life, zippy racing horses,

Caught in traffic, out flies the curses.

The lazying gov't jobs,

Corporate firms-people in sobs.

Pretty maiden's & roadside romeos

Going gaga over "Dada's" Cricketing cameos.

Once in a while,we go for a picnic

Two days away & we're home sick.

Even in distress, just make a call

Don't be surprised, help comes from all.

Be it in sun,be it in rain

Auntie's & uncles, everyone loves to gain.

Where ever we are

Where ever we go,

The spirit of Kolkata

Makes us proud & to glow....
