ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଭାଷାରେ ଏମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଥିବା ସହଜ ପାର୍ଥକ୍ୟ ନିମ୍ନରେ ଦିଆଗଲା:
୧. Dog (କୁକୁର)
- ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଅର୍ଥ: ସାଧାରଣ ଭାବରେ ଆମେ ସବୁ ପ୍ରଜାତିର କୁକୁରଙ୍କୁ କୁକୁର (Kukura) ବୋଲି କହିଥାଉ.
- ବ୍ୟାଖ୍ୟା: ଏହା ଏକ ବ୍ୟାପକ ଶବ୍ଦ (General Term). ପୋଷା କୁକୁର, ପୋଲିସ କୁକୁର, ବୁଲା କୁକୁର, କିମ୍ବା ଘର ଜଗୁଆଳି ଆଦି ସମସ୍ତେ ଏହି ଶ୍ରେଣୀଭୁକ୍ତ.

୨. Hound (ଶିକାରୀ କୁକୁର)
- ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଅର୍ଥ: ଏହାକୁ ଓଡ଼ିଆରେ ସ୍ଵତନ୍ତ୍ର ଭାବେ ଶିକାରୀ କୁକୁର (Shikari Kukura) ବା ସନ୍ଧାନୀ କୁକୁର କୁହାଯାଏ.
- ବ୍ୟାଖ୍ୟା: ଏହା ସବୁ ପ୍ରକାର କୁକୁରଙ୍କୁ ବୁଝାଏ ନାହିଁ । ଏହା କୁକୁରମାନଙ୍କର ଏକ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ଶ୍ରେଣୀ (Subset), ଯାହାକୁ କେବଳ ବନ୍ୟଜନ୍ତୁ ଶିକାର କରିବା କିମ୍ବା କୌଣସି ଜିନିଷର ସନ୍ଧାନ (Track) କରିବା ପାଇଁ ବଂଶବୃଦ୍ଧି (Bred) କରାଯାଇଥାଏ. ଏମାନଙ୍କର ଶୁଙ୍ଘିବା ଶକ୍ତି କିମ୍ବା ଦେଖିବା ଶକ୍ତି ଏବଂ ଦୌଡ଼ିବା ବେଗ ଅତି ପ୍ରଖର ହୋଇଥାଏ.
